Here at Chagrin Valley Optometrists, we know how important proper eye care is. We are dedicated to providing the highest level of service so you can have the vision you deserve.

We truly believe in annual eye examinations to maintain the highest level of vision and ocular health. Just because you are seeing 20/20 does not mean your eyes are perfect. Some forms of ocular disease are completely without symptoms but can cause serious consequences down the road if not caught. Children that see well can still have underlying binocular vision issues that can affect learning and often go undetected if not screened properly for them.

To ensure good eye health and vision, we are very proud to offer the following services:

Comprehensive Eye Exams

Annual Examinations are critical in attaining and maintaining optimal eye health and vison. Our doctors take pride in the thoroughness of their examinations. We want to make sure you are not only seeing your best by performing a careful refraction but also that your vision is at its best. This means testing to ensure your eyes are functioning properly together as a team and are free of any and all diseases that could be causing you issues now as well as down the road. Because of the visibility of the vasculature in the eye, systemic disease such as diabetes and hypertension can also be detected during annual examinations.

Pediatric Eye Exams

Here at Chagrin Valley Optometrists, we are proud to offer pediatric eye examinations. Children should have their first eye exam around the age of six months. If the first exam finds that their eyes are healthy, they won’t need another appointment until they are between the age of two and three.

Although many schools offer annual eye exams, they are not complete visual exams and the results can be inaccurate. For this reason, you should schedule yearly examinations to ensure that your child’s eyes are healthy and that he or she can see clearly.

Digital Retina Imaging Chagrin Falls, OH

Digital Retina Imaging

Using a digital camera system, our optometrists at Chagrin Valley Optometrists can clearly see and examine your retina, located at the back of your eye. This examination is critical to monitoring the health of your eye as well as to the early detection of many medical problems. The pictures generated through retinal imaging help us identify problems with your vision and can also help diagnose other medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, or even brain tumors.

Digital retinal imaging is important because, often, vision or eye problems can develop with no clear symptoms. Subtle changes in your vision can be hard to detect and diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, or retinal tears may only be visible through these images. Even in healthy eyes, retinal imaging is important as it allows us to track changes in your eyes over time so we can better predict and prepare for common issues that affect eyes as they age.

Macular Degeneration Chagrin Falls, OH

Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration is a deterioration of the central portion of the retina, the inside layer of the eye that records the images we see and sends them through the optic nerve from the eye to the brain for processing. The macula, or the center of the retina, is responsible for focusing central vision in the eye and controls our ability to see and process information.

Myopia Control Chagrin Falls, OH

Myopia Control

Nearsightedness, known as myopia, makes it difficult to see objects from afar. However, in more recent years, myopia has been reclassified by the World Health Organization as a disease. This was due to the dangers of retinal and overall eye health that myopia poses, as well as the escalating presence found in children worldwide. We now have options available to slow down the progression of your child’s myopia rather than giving them stronger glasses or contacts year after year. Treatments including orthokeratology or overnight contact lens wear, MiSight soft contact lens wear, as well as low dose atropine eye drops work to preserve your child’s sight setting them up for a bright future.
